Literature Searching (1 hour)
Whether you are a beginner or need a refresher, this workshop will teach you all you need to know about the world of literature searching.
This session covers:
- How to plan your search using the PICO format.
- The names of different healthcare databases and what they cover.
- Boolean Operators and Subject Headings
- A live demonstration of a search using the OVID or EBSCO website.
Introduction to Critical Appraisal (1 hour)
This workshop introduces key concepts of critical appraisal including the hierarchy of evidence, validity, trustworthiness and relevance.
During the session, there is an also an activity practicing appraising a section of a research paper.
