Introduction to Critical Appraisal helps you develop the skills and knowledge to independently appraise and interpret research papers.
This course is ideal for beginners or anyone who would like to refresh their critical appraisal skills. The course provides an overview of the key characteristics of critical appraisal and an introduction to basic statistics. You will learn how to use a critical appraisal checklist to appraise a range of research papers including randomised controlled trials and systematic reviews. All stages of the appraisal process are illustrated with examples from real papers to enhance understanding and contextualise key concepts. There is also an opportunity to put your skills into practice through a group exercise appraising a randomised controlled trial!

Introduction to Critical Appraisal uses the CASP critical appraisal framework.
