Keeping up to date with the latest research and evidence is challenging for any busy healthcare professional. In Current Awareness and Setting Alerts you will learn the skills and techniques to help you keep up to date with the latest publications and how to manage information effectively.
The course covers a range of essential current awareness tools and services, including journal alerting services and RSS feeds. You will learn how to keep up to date with your favourite journals quickly and easy by creating a journal table of contents alert; how to create alerts on a search topic using the alerting features on the NHS Evidence healthcare databases and how to create RSS feeds from websites. You will also learn how to manage your alerts and feeds using the MyLibrary portal on NHS Evidence.
The course trainer can advise you of key resources in your field and help you to identify relevant journals and websites. By the end of the training session you can expect to have successfully created a range of alerts and feeds that will save you time and help keep you up to date with all the latest research and publications.
- Identify key journals and websites relevant to your clinical specialty or area of practice.
- Be able to create an alert (including journal table of contents and database alerts).
- Be able to create an RSS feed.
- Manage alerts and feeds using the MyLibrary portal on NHS Evidence.
